My first novel, Thirteen Scars, is the realization of a generational dream. Upon my father’s passing from Alzheimer’s, I found partially written stories, books, poems, and recipes hidden like a wonderful treasure trove throughout my parents’ home. As a child, he always told me one day he would write a novel in the style of Isaac Asimov, his favorite author. I eagerly adopted his dream and decided I too would one day write a novel. He died never having accomplished his dream, having even forgotten he ever even had one. Thankfully, my amazing mom compiled a book for our family of his words in his own handwriting, so I can still go to him for advice and inspiration. I now chase my own dream in his honor.
